This is a late war M40 shell - Stamped Q64 for Quist and DN 474 all on the rear skirt it has had over its life, a repaint and then a light covering of green. All of the pins are tight to the shell, One pin “cap” is missing and they have definitely never been touched as can be seen in the photos the oxidization that has occurred cannot be replicated. The leather liner has all tongues present and a nice original drawstring An original chin strap completes the ensemble. Without doubt one of the nicest “real” affordable camo helmets out there today It is rare in today’s market to find an “unquestionably period” Camouflage helmet. I would say at least 90% of the ones being offered today are “Not of the period” We were lucky enough to snag this little beauty, and it really does have charisma and character. When you think of the 5 basics of camouflage – Shape Shine Shadow Silhouette and Size, this one ticks the boxes – Nice and subtle light green overpaint, it isn’t flamboyant it isn’t fancy stripes wires nets or bread bag straps it is without doubt one of the nicest, and affordable camo helmets on the market today
