M40 Army Single Decal “ Untouched” Combat Helmet

This is well-preserved and highly original example of the Heer M40 Single Decal Helmet. The Army eagle decal 100% intact, exhibiting no loss, with sharp golden tones with definition high all over, an increasingly rare feature among untouched examples. The shell is stamped EF for Emaillerwerke A.G. / Fulda, and 62 for the size. The rear skirt is stamped with a lot number. All rivets are tight and have never been removed or replaced. The overall finish of the shell exhibits a heavy factory “dull” sand like finish The liner is in fantastic original condition and is size 55 complete with the original draw string. The leather is supple. The chinstrap – original to the helmet, is unmarked and supple, and there is a really nice tough to it. When it was “liberated” in Norway, it was taken from a German soldier who was wearing it at the time. The leather was cut (but not right the way through) to take it from him. This helmet has been in my own collection for over 25 years and has never been in a collection before. I don’t believe in stories, however I purchased this directly from the family in 2003, where the “father” served in Norway and brought this back in 1940 when the British Army retreated. I cannot find the details as they are lost over time, as I was never going to sell it…….. Finding an untouched helmet today is extremely rare. I am thinning out my own collection of top shelf helmets.
