95% of the original silver/grey factory finish remains present, some bare aluminium visible on edges. The prongs and catch are in excellent rust-free condition. This is a textbook example with fantastic detail retention, particularly to the eagle, and will make an aesthetic and displayable addition to any collection.

This 2^nd pattern buckle was adopted for wear by EM/NCO personnel in late 1936; early buckles were produced in solid nickel/silver until 1936 when aluminium alloys, such as this example, replaced them. In 1940 they began to be manufactured in steel.
