Miniature Hunting Association Dagger By Hörster With Knot

This is a 3/4 size replica of a National Hunting Cutlass with very fine, high quality detailing throughout. It is constructed of metal cleverly designed to simulate the antler grip and leather scabbard. The pommel is an exact replica of the full size version, with a fine, round screw which acts to retain the tang. The pommel is umbrella-like, with dual lines on the sides. The ferrule duplicates this look. This little dagger even has a period green/silver mini portepee which is tied around the grip and crossguard. The crossguards are in the shape of deer legs, with simulated hair and fine hooves. Below the guard is a nice clamshell. The metal grip closely simulates a stage grip, painted a dark brown. In the centre of the grip is a very good looking National Hunting (DJ) insignia. The scabbard has beautiful nickel mounts with scalloped edges. The upper mount has a perfectly simulated acorn lug, and the lower mount is scribed with twin decorative lines. The “leather” portion of the scabbard is simulated with a green “crackle” finish and has the standard dual trim lines at the edges. The blade of this miniature measures just under 6 inches long, double etched with hunting scenes. These etchings are extremely crisp throughout. The obverse depicts a pair of stag in a forest glen while the reverse has a dog tracking what appears to be a wolf. The ricasso is etched with Hörster “H” trademark, and the original green felt buffer is in place.. Super little miniature.
