This is a chance of a lifetime to grab a superb been there done it combat helmet. The helmet is a former DD Apple green and that colour can be clearly seen on the underside of the helmet-  and it has been overpainted with a thick darker green paint that has peeled and run in places showing parts of the original helmet. There is a distinct shadow of at least one decal.

You can see its former camo colour of white peeking through, and it gived the helmet so much character. All of the pins show the same type of application as the rest of the helmet, and they are completely tight to the shell. The shell is stamped NS 64 for  Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke, Schwerte, and the lot Nr is stamped clear to the rear. The leather although a bit dry has sweat stains showing and is complete with no tears or rips, all fingers are complete. And it has an original draw string. Another thing that makes this helmet rather special is that it has a clear (ish) dome stamp. The chinstrap is an early alliminium buckle example and although cracked in places, shows absolute character. It could be that this helmet went to the gates of Moscow and back again – or it could have been in Norway – who knows – but it is a super one of a kind combat helmet that would grace any collection –
