Die struck Close combat clasp with a two-tone bronze brennlack wash, a substantial amount of which is retained. The hinge, pin and catch are all intact and functional. The reverse is clearly maker marked FLL for Fredrich linden Ludensheid, and designer marked Fec. W. E. Peekhaus Berlin. It is a type 1.14.1 in the Durante CCC book. The quality of this clasp is excellent, and is the best example we have seen in a very long time
The Close Combat Clasp series was introduced in 1942 for personnel who fought in hand-to-hand combat unsupported by armour in either Bronze, Silver or Gold. Criteria for award of the bronze clasp was fifteen days of hand-to-hand combat for bestowal of the Bronze clasp.
