This is a stunning Luftwaffe helmet. It is definitely combat worn as it has been overpainted to dull the shine of the original blue. This is apparent as there are numerous chips on the paint exposing the original finish. The Eagle has been left alone and displays just the right amount of wear. The tri colour has been painted over as per 1940 regulations, but over time the paint has cracked and the colours of the tri are peeking though. It is an ET 64 shell – Eisenhuttenwerk, Thale. Not a common makes of Luftwaffe helmets. A good clear lot number is stamped to the rear skirt,and a size 57 liner fitted with 3 pins and washers which are original to the helmet and display the same consistencies of wear. The leather is remarkably supple and does not suffer from any damage, and has an original draw string fitted. The bonus to this helmet is the original brown leather chinstrap, with early buckle fastening and maker marked and not RB marked which would indicate that this chinstrap has been with this helmet all of its life.

This really is a cut above the rest, and would grace any collection. Combat Helmets seem to be the best investment in today’s market. In a world flooding with fakes and copies, it is a welcome change to find an untouched item
