Standard issue, 1.7 liter capacity, olive drab painted, kidney shaped, tooled, aluminum and steel construction mess kit

 Nicely marked HWSD 36 for the maker H.W.Schmidt, Metallwarenfabrik, Döbeln. Complete with a leather strap which affixes to the breadbag through the loop, and fastens at the top. Strap is dated 1940 and a couple of initials have been scratched into the bottom, and top. Good amount of original green paint remains
