Stunning Boxed – early die struck tombac gold wound badge. Un-maker marked but consistent with the maker 30 Hauptmunzamt, wien. The soft silk lining of its box is completely intact, the box itself displays virtually no signs of wear, the pin and catch is fully functioning. A nice touch is the slight indent and colour difference made to the velveteen base insert over the years of the badge nestled in its original box – impossible to falsify! I cannot emphasise enough the stunning craftsmanship of this badge – although the badge is not marked – the box has a sticker on the back “Hauptmunzamt, wien” -

 The badge was awarded to military and non-military personnel and was the highest of the three classes, awarded for five or more wounds, or if the individual was totally disabled, or posthumously if the individual was killed in battle.
