Die struck second pattern 100% frosted nickel/silver plated, alloy award. Complete with original and fully functional hinge, pin and catch. The award comes housed in its original leathette covered case. The silvered likeness of the award to the box top is in unscratched condition, with fine detail retention. The case has black flocking covering the interior base with a slotted recess to secure the award in place; this is in very fine condition with no holes. The interior top lid is lined with clean and intact white satin.

In 1939 Hitler reinstituted two new Spangen (Bars) for the first and second class awards to be bestowed to recipients of the 1939 Iron Cross who had also been awarded a first or second 1914 Iron Cross.
