Housed in a dark brown leather scabbard, and a lighter brown frog. This is a great example of the long police bayonet with stag horn grips. This is an early example by Alexander Coppel – ALCOSO and as it has been converted from a Reichswehr police bayonet – as many were – to a 3rd Reich one- denoted by the small filled hole below the lower rivet (see pictures)
Spotless plated blade and trademarked on both sides. Both the scabbard and the lower crossguard are marked with the same unit number with one slight difference. The lower crossguard has S.M.I.1253 and the scabbard is – S.M.III.1253 - so what’s gone on there I have no idea – This is an affordable sought after early Police Bayonet, I doubt if you will find a cheaper one out there!
