This is a very rare operational  ”Rüfa 12 B” Luftwaffe “back” parachute

This is not to be confused with the many “freight” parachutes that one can see for sale It measures a whopping 20 feet in diameter and is made from pure silk.  The lines that would attach to the harness have been cut, as it was hidden away for many years and then forgotten – the original intention was to make a wedding dress, and judging by the amount of silk there is one could make a “few”

 The chute is very nicely marked Rüfa 12 B” ( Rü(cken) Fa(llschirm) 12B  (model), produced 05.July 1940 , Weight 10 kg.(with cords – which are missing The rest are factory stamps, Clothing Office (BAL), Luftwaffe stamps, and Luftwaffe control stamps.

These were worn by  fighter pilots, and bomber crews  – Do 17 and JU 88 and HE11’s

I will take a sensible offer on it as I cannot find one to compare
