This is a very rare and very interesting well filled out Soldbuch to a “Sniper” soldier that actually took part in the battles of the Kurland Pocket in Russia in 1944-45
The Soldbuch and award documents are named to Gefreiter Alex Titz serving with Gren Regt 390, part of 215 Infanterie Division. He has a promotion to Lieutenant on page 1 but that entry has not been verified on page 3 – Interestingly is that he was issued with sniper/marksman equipment. He was attached to 4, ZBV-567 with clear stamps showing in the book.
ZBV-567 was a transport unit that was disbanded in late 1944 except for the 5 & 6 Kompanies.
There are also 4 citations to This solid fighter and include Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in silver, Black, Silver and Gold Wound Badge award documents –
He ended up being taken prisoner by the French!!
Soldbuch’s and entries relating to the Kurland pocket are extremely rare and hard to come by
There has been some research done – but it requires much more effort to find out the whole story on this one – it has the potential to be a fantastic piece of history
