Wonderful untouched example of a factory ground Rohm by E. Pack . “Alles fur Deutschland” motto is beautifully executed and the “E. P. & S. Solingen” maker mark remains 50% intact. It has a perfect fit and perfect tip! The blade rates in at an Exc+
This has all nickel fittings and no damage to the blade or the scabbard, not even the bottom ball!! The excellent nickel cross guards and the handle fittings have a good dull patina, having not been cleaned for years (if at all….ever!). The lower guard has the “straight-across” look typical of this maker’s early construction. Stamped Nm for the Gau Nordmark The guards have smooth surfaces with crisp edges and precise accent grooves. This dagger does not look to have been ever apart………..
The scabbard is completely dent free!
This is a rarely encountered dagger in this condition. There are plenty out there, most have been messed with, this one appears to have been untouched!!!
Prior to his “unmasking” as a traitor, Ernst Röhm was the leader of the SA. In 1934, he distributed approximately 100,000 SA daggers with his personal inscription on the reverse blade. These daggers were to honor individuals who had served with the SA prior to December, 1931. Other than the inscription, these pieces were identical to the standard M1933 SA dagger. After the Röhm purge, the inscription was ordered to be removed. Many examples were returned to the factory for grinding
