The Harbour pilot’s flag was flown on Kriegsmarine vessels to indicate that the ship had a qualified harbour pilot aboard. Harbour pilots were required while bringing a ship into port.

This is a  fantastic condition Harbour Flag  and considered to be quite rare.

It is a large flag measuring 1 m x 1.4m. printed cotton material with two rope ties and a couple of heavy metal fixing clips, and is totally free from moth nips, rips or tears

The flag is also marked “LOTSEN” which denotes that it is a Pilot’s flag.
