This postcard illustrates the imbalance of armed forces in Europe. Germany’s disarmament, as required by the Treaty of Versailles, left it exposed to the superior military forces of its neighbors, east and west. In 1934, the year this card was mailed, Adolf Hitler began to rearm Germany and increase its military forces unilaterally. A very interesting piece of social history. The postcard is in good condition, having sadly been glued into an album.
