A superb and never to be repeated buckle that not only has the unit stamp on the leather tongue, but also has a name tag stuck to the inside of the leather flap – which has been researched
The aluminium buckle is stamped for the company AD Baumeister Ludenscheid and the leather tongue for the same maker. Not only is it LBA stamped but also has the unit stamped FL.H.Kdr.Schwerin. A flight Sqn.
Fliegerhorst Schwerin was the base for Stuka Geschwader 162 “Immelmann”.The name tag gives the owner as:
Wilhelm Thielmann
THIELMANN, Wilhelm. 30.09.43 Lt., III./St.G. 2 KIA – Ju 87 D-5 vic Keidorw, cause unknown.
01.11.43 Lt. Pilot – awarded the Ehrenpokal.
He is listed as becoming a Lieutenant on 30 Sept 43 and was a pilot in Stuka Geschwader 2 (which is the same unit as StukaG 162.) he received the Honour Goblet ( 17 October 43) and KIA 01.November 43 in Russia.
It also seems he was in Group III of Stuka G 2 when it was commanded by Hans Rudel
