This is a beautiful hand carved RAD shovel that is truly a unique piece. Measuring approximately 24 inches long by about 8 inches wide

Undoubtedly a period item, the top has the numbers 4/ 191 carved into the wood, which is for the unit in – Löningen (Marktredwitz)

It has been extensively photographed by Tom Johnson, and will be a feature is his new book, showcased in the RAD daggers chapter.

This may have been something that was hung in the mess hall, although it is angled to hang like a dagger
