This stunning early nickel plated SA dagger rates 9-10 on the McSARR rarity scale, and appears to be completely un touched. Yes it has been cleaned at some point, but I know this has been with one collector since 1996, so it’s a fresh one to the market. There is no sign of the tang nut being undone, and the cherry coloured wooden handle really sets this one apart from the rest. The eagle is bright and tight, as too is the button. The lower cross guard is marked for the Gruppe area Wm. What is doubly nice about this one, is the owners number is engraved on the lower cross guard and top scabbard fitting. There is no way to trace the owner, but it does make it more personal. The fittings are tight and there is no shrinkage, and the blade is about as perfect as you could ever want. The etch is a nice deep black etch, with plenty of cross graining evident. The scabbard retains 80% of it’s original anodised finish, and it’s only downfall if the bottom scabbard retainer has a few dings to it. But it does not detract from its look
A very beautiful, investment quality SA Dagger
